History Summary:
a) History summary :
Reprobel was incorporated in June 1994. Then, in October 1997, Reprobel was appointed as the only collecting society entitled to administer the remuneration for reprography in Belgium. Collection started in January 1998. The first distribution of fees to the Belgian right holders took place in 2001.
Since 2005, Reprobel is also the only collecting society authorized to collect and distribute the remuneration for public lending in Belgium.

Publishers’ societies : COPIEBEL, COPIEPRESSE, REPROCOPY, REPRO PP, REPROPRESS, SEMU, RUIT and SABAM

Types of uses licensed (including, where applicable, course packs,document delivery and storage): Legal situation: Since the act of 22 May 2005, a legal license authorizes both the electronic storage (new art. 22, §1, 4°ter) and the public communication carried out by means of a closed transmission network (new art. 22, §1, 4°quater) for the purposes of illustrating the teaching or of scientific research (academic permission). This legal license awaits tariffs in order to be fully implemented.
In the near future, electronic storage will also be permitted by law for private use (new art.22, §1, 5°) only thus not for one’s own internal professional use. The latter provision awaits a Royal decree to come into force.
