Purpose:
The American Illustrators' Partnership (AIP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a mechanism to professionally administer collective management of individual illustrators’ rights. The AIP represents a coalition of twelve graphic arts organizations, numbering over 3,500 of the most prolific and widely published illustrators and cartoonists in the United States, working in a wide spectrum of general and special interest publications. The majority of these artists are independent contractors who have reserved reproduction rights to the bulk of their published works and hope to bring accountability to the management of these rights.

UPDATE: In October, 2007 the coalition formalized as a new non-profit named the AMERICAN SOCIETY OF ILLUSTRATORS PARTNERSHIP.
