Year operations began :
SOFIA is distributing the public lending right for the year 2010.

Purpose :
1999: creation of SOFIA, a French non-profit collecting society of authors and publishers of books with the support of the Société des Gens de Lettres (SGDL) and the Syndicat National de l’Édition (SNE). 2003: SOFIA distributes payments from the British PLR system to French authors. March 7th 2005: SOFIA is officially authorised by the French Minister of Culture as the collecting society in charge of the PLR in France, as enforced by law in June 2003.

Members :
SOFIA is composed of approximately 6.000 authors of books and 300 publishers who represent 85% of the publishers in France.
