HISTORY OF ORGANISATION
History of the organisation : KOPIPOL Association was formed by Polish scientists on 5 June 1995. KOPIPOL Association gained the status of the organisation for the collective management of copyright by virtue of the decision of the Minister of Culture and Arts of 16 Aug. 1995. The scope of the collective management set by the above-mentioned decision was extended due to the decision of the Minister of Culture of 20 Nov. 2003. Presently, the latter constitutes the legal basis of KOPIPOL Association activities as an organisation for the collective management of copyright. On the basis of the above-mentioned decision, KOPIPOL Association is a collective manager of copyright with respect to scientific and technical works in the following areas of exploitation: 1. recording, 2. reproduction of the copies of works with any technological means, including printing, reprography, magnetic or digital recording, 3. putting into circulation, 4. lending for use, 5. hire, 6. projection, 7. displaying the work publicly, 8. broadcasting, 9. reemission, 10. making the work available for the public in such a way that anyone can have access to it at a place and time chosen by them. Moreover, by virtue of the decision of the Minister of Culture, KOPIPOL Association was authorised to exercise the right specified in the art. 30 par. 2 of the Law on Copyright and Related Rights to collect royalties from information and documentation centres for providing work copies on payable basis.
