In November 2017 the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved the request of the Bosnian RRO, Original, for a license for the collective management of rights for private and other internal use of written works. With this decision, the IPO acknowledges that Original fulfilled the legal requirements for the collective management of rights for private and other internal uses of written works and is the only organisation that can collectively manage this right on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The rights to be administered by Original on behalf of authors and publishers will include “the right to a fee collected through the first sale or import of new photocopiers” and “the right to compensation from created photocopies intended for sale, paid by natural or legal persons who perform photocopying services”, i.e. an equipment levy and an operator fee. Members of Original include individual authors and publishers and also authors and publishers associations.
The President of Original, Mr. Goran Simić, participated in the IFRRO World Congress last year and IFRRO is looking forward to working with Original and with the Bosnian authors and publishers that it represents for an effective collective management of their rights.
