The “Bookshelf” service, Bokhylla.no, is an online service giving users with Norwegian IP addresses free access to every book published in Norway up until 2000.
In accordance with the agreement with the Norwegian RRO Kopinor, users without Norwegian IP addresses can apply for access for specific purposes, primarily research, education and professional translation. Authors, other creators and publishers are paid through the collective agreement. The agreement also allows for individual books to be removed from the Bookshelf at the rightholder’s request.
In May 2009, the Norwegian National Library launched the Bookshelf website, which made available all Norwegian books from the 1690s, 1790s, 1890s and 1990s. The agreement for the continuation of the Bookshelf was signed on 28 August 2012. See: here
