New IFRRO Statutes enter into force

The new IFRRO Statutes finally came into force on 2 May 2012. The cumbersome and resource demanding procedures imposed by Belgian legislation on international organisations established with legal personality in Belgium required a waiting period of more than six months from the modified Statutes, which were voted unanimously by the IFRRO membership at the General Meeting in Ljubljana on 27 October 2011 until they became officially operational.

Among the important changes is the restructuring of the membership categories which now are: RRO member (RROs which represent directly both authors and publishers, including on their governing bodies); Associate RRO member (representing directly either author or publisher with one of the categories only on the governing bodies); Provisional RRO member (not fully operational RRO); Creator and Publisher Association member.
