IFRRO visits the Armenian IPO and speaks at a WIPO regional workshop

On 20 May 2019, IFRRO met in Yerevan with Kristine Hambaryan, Deputy Head of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Armenia (AIPA). They discussed how to strengthen the cooperation between the two organisations as there is, at the moment in Armenia, no collective management of rights in place in the text and image sector.armenia-photo.jpgSpeakers at the regional workshop © AIPA

On 21-22 May, IFRRO spoke at a regional workshop on collective management of copyright organised by AIPA and WIPO. The workshop was attended by local and foreign participants, including representatives from Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia (GCA), Kazakhstan and Ukraine. International federations CISAC, IFPI and SCAPR were also in attendance, and WIPO was represented by Anita Huss-Ekerhult and Oleksandr Shevchenko.

IFRRO’s Manager for Policy and Regional Development Pierre-Olivier Lesburguères spoke about private copying and reprography levies and public lending right as two successful mechanisms to compensate authors and publishers when their works are copied and borrowed.
