Google Books case: hearing and timeline

On 3 May 2012, U.S. Judge Denny Chin heard oral argument in the Google Books case.
According to Professor James Grimmelmann (http://laboratorium.net/), two issues were discussed at the hearing:
1. Whether the Authors Guild and visual artists’ groups have “associational standing” to sue Google on their members’ behalf.
2. Whether to certify a class of authors so that the Authors Guild’s lawsuit can proceed as a class action.
It is expected that the parties will now go ahead with their summary judgment motions. Judge Chin said he would hear oral arguments in September.
